Why Viking

The Thinking Person's Ship.

Small ocean ships, longships sized to the locks of the Rhine and the Danube, and expedition vessels built for the Antarctic. No children, no casinos, no photographers in the corridor. Just the destination, and the time to take it in.

A Veranda on Every Stateroom

Viking's ocean ships carry no inside cabins at all. Every guest gets a private veranda, a floor-to-ceiling glass door, and a view that changes while you have breakfast in it.

Ocean, River and Expedition

The same company runs the Rhine and the Danube, the Mediterranean and the Panama Canal, and the crossing to Antarctica. One booking relationship, three very different kinds of voyage.

Included, Not Upsold

A shore excursion in every port, beer and wine with lunch and dinner, specialty restaurants, Wi-Fi and the thermal spa are part of the fare rather than a line item added at the end.

Why Book Through Us

Same Price as Direct. Specialist Included.

Booking Viking through us costs exactly what booking Viking costs. Our commission is wholesale margin paid by the cruise line, not a markup added to you — so the specialist, the planning, and the support are free.

The Same Published Price

Every figure on this page is Viking's own published "from" rate. We do not mark voyages up and we do not charge a planning fee, and Viking's own promotions still apply. Ask your specialist which sailings currently qualify for a reduced deposit. Compare us to the cruise line's site line for line.

A Specialist at No Cost

One person who knows which side of the ship to book on which itinerary, which stateroom category is worth the upgrade and which is not, and when a river departure is about to sell out. That expertise is included.

Someone to Call When It Matters

A missed connection into Ft. Lauderdale, a changed sailing date, a dietary request the week before you board. You call one number and it gets handled — not a queue, not a chatbot, not a form.

Travel advisors are paid a commission by the cruise line out of the fare you were already going to pay. That is why the price is identical whether you book direct or book with us — the only difference is whether you have someone in your corner when something changes.

What's Included

Every Detail. Already Handled.

Viking sells complete voyages rather than a fare with a menu of extras attached. Most of what other lines charge for is already inside the price quoted above.

  • A veranda stateroom on every ocean sailing
  • One shore excursion included in every port
  • All onboard meals, specialty restaurants included
  • Beer, wine and soft drinks with lunch and dinner
  • Wi-Fi throughout the ship
  • Thermal suite and spa access
  • Port charges and government taxes included in the fare
  • Adults only, no children and no casinos
  • Pre and post cruise extensions arranged for you
  • Your specialist on call before and during travel
How It Works

From First Call to Final Port.

You won't be passed between agents, talked over by a call center, or asked to fill out a 40-field intake. One specialist. One conversation. One voyage you'll talk about for the rest of your life.

01

Pick Your Voyage

Tell us which Viking sailing caught your eye and roughly when you'd like to travel. A short form, then a 20-minute call.

02

Receive Your Quote

An all-in price at the cruise line's published rate, plus a specialist's notes on stateroom category, sailing direction, and which dates hold the best value.

03

Refine Until It's Right

Add a night in Amsterdam, move up a stateroom category, sail the itinerary in reverse, add air. Adjust freely — we don't move on until you say yes.

04

Sail — We're On Standby

Every booking, every transfer, every little ask while you're away. A direct line to your specialist, 24/7.

A Note on Availability

Winter Sailings Fill First.

Viking runs small ships, which is the whole appeal and also the reason a popular sailing closes early. Several Southeast Asia departures are already sold out, and the eight-day river itineraries are the first to go every season. If you have a month in mind, ask now and let a specialist find the departure that still has the cabin you want.

  • Small ships, limited cabins per sailing
  • River departures sell out earliest

Common Questions

Before You Book.

Ocean sailings use small ships of roughly nine hundred guests and cross open water, so an itinerary such as Southeast Asia & Hong Kong or Panama Canal & Central America covers a lot of ground. River sailings use longships sized to fit European locks, tie up in the middle of town, and run eight to fifteen days on the Rhine, Danube, Seine or Gironde. Expedition sailings, such as Antarctic Explorer, use purpose-built ice-class ships and go where the other two cannot. Your specialist can tell you which of the three suits the trip you have in mind.
No. The prices on this page are Viking's own published rates, and we do not add a markup or a planning fee. Our commission is wholesale margin paid by the cruise line out of the same fare, so booking through us costs you exactly what booking direct costs — you simply get a dedicated specialist as part of the deal.
A veranda stateroom on every ocean sailing, one shore excursion in every port, all meals including the specialty restaurants, beer and wine with lunch and dinner, Wi-Fi, and access to the thermal suite. Viking ships carry no children and no casinos. What sits outside the fare is airfare unless a promotion includes it, premium spirits, and any additional excursions you choose to add.
Not by default, though Viking runs complimentary air promotions on select departures — free international air on some Grand European Tour dates, and business class air on select Viking World Voyage III departures. Outside of those, most guests either use miles or add Viking Air to the booking. Ask your specialist which of the sailings you are considering currently carries an air offer.
Further than you would for a hotel. The ships are small, so a given sailing has a limited number of each stateroom category and the better categories close first. Several Southeast Asia & Hong Kong departures are already sold out and the eight-day river itineraries go early every season. For a specific month, twelve to eighteen months ahead is comfortable.
Yes. The thirteen voyages above are the most popular and the highest in demand, and the catalog list further down covers most of the rest, but we book every Viking itinerary across ocean, river, expedition and world. Pick "Another Viking cruise" in the form, or call, and a specialist will find it.
