Why Belmond

Restored Carriages, Not Replicas.

Belmond does not build trains that look old. It buys the originals and spends years returning them to the standard they were built to — then staffs them like a grand hotel that happens to be moving.

Carriages With Provenance

Original 1920s and 1930s sleeping cars with inlaid marquetry, Lalique glass panels, and fittings restored rather than reproduced. Several of these carriages carried royalty and heads of state before they carried you.

Cooking at Hotel Standard

Kitchens the size of a galley turning out multi-course dinners for a full train, with guest chefs on the Royal Scotsman's culinary departures and a table reserved for you at every service.

One Fare, Everything In

Meals, wines, spirits, steward service, and the scheduled off-train excursions are inside the fare on every Belmond train. You are not handed a bill at the end of the trip.

Belmond 2026

Four Trains. Every Journey.

Europe, Scotland, England and Wales, and the Malay Peninsula. Prices are Belmond's own published "from" guide prices per person — the same figure you would pay booking direct.

Every journey is customizable — dates, direction of travel, cabin grade, hotels, and extensions tailored to you.

Why Book Through Us

Same Price as Direct. Specialist Included.

Booking Belmond through us costs exactly what booking Belmond costs. Our commission is wholesale margin paid by the rail operator, not a markup added to you — so the specialist, the planning, and the support are free.

The Same Published Price

Every figure on this page comes from Belmond's own published guide prices. We do not mark journeys up and we do not charge a planning fee. Compare us to the operator's site line for line.

A Specialist at No Cost

One person who knows which cabin grade is worth the jump on which train, which direction of travel gets the better light through the Alps, and which Royal Scotsman departure suits a first-timer. That expertise is included.

Someone to Call When It Matters

A missed connection into Venice, a changed cabin, a dietary request the day before departure. You call one number and it gets handled — not a queue, not a chatbot, not a form.

Travel advisors are paid a commission by the rail operator out of the fare you were already going to pay. That is why the price is identical whether you book direct or book with us — the only difference is whether you have someone in your corner when something changes.

What's Included

Every Detail. Already Handled.

  • Wines, spirits, and beverages throughout
  • A dedicated steward for your carriage
  • Scheduled off-train excursions and entry fees
  • Onboard entertainment and the bar car

  • Your specialist on call before and during travel
How It Works

From First Call to Final Station.

You won't be passed between agents, talked over by a call center, or asked to fill out a 40-field intake. One specialist. One conversation. One trip you'll talk about for the rest of your life.

01

Pick Your Journey

Tell us which Belmond train and route caught your eye and roughly when you'd like to travel. A short form, then a 20-minute call.

02

Receive Your Quote

An all-in price at Belmond's published rate, plus a specialist's notes on cabin grade, direction of travel, and which dates hold the best value.

03

Refine Until It's Right

Add nights in Venice, move up to a Suite, reverse the direction, extend into a second Belmond train. Adjust freely — we don't move on until you say yes.

04

Travel — We're On Standby

Every booking, every transfer, every little ask while you're away. A direct line to your specialist, 24/7.

A Note on Availability

A Few Dozen Cabins, Not a Few Hundred Seats.

Every Belmond train is small by design. The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express runs a limited European season and its Grand Suites are counted on one hand; the Royal Scotsman carries about forty guests; Britannic Explorer and the Eastern & Oriental Express are smaller still. Marquee dates — the Istanbul run, New Year in Malaysia, the anniversary Grand Tour — are typically gone a year ahead. If you have a date in mind, ask early rather than next quarter.

  • European season runs spring to autumn
  • Suites and Grand Suites sell out first
  • Marquee departures book a year ahead

Common Questions

Before You Book.

On the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, a Historic Cabin is the original 1920s compartment that converts from a day sofa to berths at night, with a washbasin in the cabin and shared facilities at the end of the carriage. Suites add a private shower room and a separate seating area, and Grand Suites add a double bed, free-flowing champagne, and a butler. The Royal Scotsman, Britannic Explorer, and Eastern & Oriental Express all have en-suite accommodation as standard, with Grand Suites at the top. Your specialist will tell you which upgrade is genuinely worth it on which train.
Yes, and it is part of the appeal. Evenings on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express are formal — black tie, cocktail dresses, and jackets in the restaurant cars — while daytime is smart casual. The Royal Scotsman, Britannic Explorer, and Eastern & Oriental Express are more relaxed, with smart dress for dinner and one or two dressier evenings. Your specialist will send you the exact guidance for your train before you pack.
Because we would rather show you nothing than show you a guess. Belmond prices a handful of departures on application or by date, and where we could not confirm an official published figure we say so instead of estimating one. Ask about any of those journeys and we will come back with a real quote, usually the same day.
No. The prices on this page come from Belmond's own published guide prices, and we do not add a markup or a planning fee. Our commission is wholesale margin paid by the rail operator out of the same fare, so booking through us costs you exactly what booking direct costs — you simply get a dedicated specialist as part of the deal.
Flights are not included — most guests prefer to use miles, points, or their own airline into Venice, Paris, London, Edinburgh, or Singapore. Hotel nights are included on the itineraries that are built around them, such as the multi-night European routes. Everything else we are happy to arrange as part of a fully managed door-to-door trip; just tell your specialist on the call.
Frequently, and it is one of the better reasons to use a specialist. The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express pairs naturally with the Royal Scotsman or Britannic Explorer on a single European trip, and the Eastern & Oriental Express slots into a wider Southeast Asia itinerary. We handle the sequencing, the connecting travel, and the hotel nights in between.
